According to the import data of the Department of Customs, Nepal imported cosmetic products worth around NPR 5.2 billion in the fiscal years of 2020 and 2021, which is dramatically growing each year. Most of the cosmetic products are imported from China, India, Indonesia, Korea, and Thailand. The major products include shampoo, conditioner, serum, cream, soap, perfume, eyeliner, lipstick, etc. Nepal has been importing everything from basic daily consumption items to luxury items from several countries around the world. Exports are very low compared to imports, and this could be very fatal for our economy in coming years. The government has to promote local manufacturing companies and should be self-sufficient in the production of daily consumption items. We, as an FMCG company in the cosmetics segment, are contributing to reducing the import of cosmetics items from overseas by exporting our natural and organic cosmetic products to Asia, the Middle East, and Australia.
